Yoga For Emotional Balance

“We have all the tools we need to find emotional balance

right here, right now.”

While putting your foot behind your head can be lots of fun, it does not do much good when you can’t sleep at night or when you are stuck in a traffic jam.  In this class, you will learn how to use the body, the breath and the mind to assess your emotional state, to apply practices that restore relaxation in the body and stability in the mind and new ways to process negative emotional patterns.

Stress and the rapid pace of our lives contribute to an overactive nervous system that often causes problems from insomnia and headaches to depression and anxiety.  When we get stuck in negative emotions, the repeated experience of these patterns actually reinforces them making them more likely to occur.  Verbal processing can strengthen the very experiences we are trying to change, and understanding these patterns is not enough to make them change.

Including the body in awareness of emotions assists in interrupting habit patterns and facilitates the change process.  By learning to listen to the body and offering accepting presence, we can build new mind-body experiences that enable us to be less reactive and more resilient.

Tools for Emotional Balance include:  Self awareness…Regulating the breath …Balancing the nervous system…Active and restorative yoga…Mindfulness
